What can the new Exhibition Centre bring to Liverpool?

A year ago, I started this blog by writing about why I believe Liverpool needs HS2 as the city moves forward. To mark the first anniversary of my blog, I have decided to write another article on the theme of Liverpool moving forward.

The positivity and confidence of the city continues to grow. With developments such as Liverpool One, Liverpool Cruise Terminal, BT Convention Centre and the ECHO Arena, this month saw the opening of the new 8,100m² Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

Located on Kings Dock, this £66m development not only complements the surrounding ECHO Arena and BT Convention Centre, but also brings several benefits. These include enhancing Liverpool’s ability to hold major conferences and increase the amount of revenue coming into the city. This will assist in meeting the demands of bars, restaurants, hotels and other attractions, thus enabling them to grow and prosper through increased bookings and revenue, through higher numbers of visitors.

Exhibition Centre Liverpool also features a new 4-star Pullman Liverpool hotel, due to open in January 2016. With 216 bedrooms, this hotel will provide ease of access to and from the centre. With Liverpool due to host next year’s International Festival of Business, this is an excellent and timely addition that will be a useful location for the festival.

To conclude, I believe Exhibition Centre Liverpool will enhance the city’s growing reputation, not only as a tourist destination, but as a world class venue for hosting major events and conferences, that will rival other UK cities.
